Subaru Consumer Experience Design (XD) Study - Information Architecture

 

This study was completed to test the effectiveness and efficiency of the Subaru Consumer navigation. Testing addressed several questions surrounding information architecture issues that need to be addressed in the next iteration of navigation. Read the entire study and findings below.

Test summary - Three part user test

  1. Tree Test using current Subaru navigation using ten (10) tasks

  2. Open Card Sort using current Subaru departments

  3. Tree Test using suggested Subaru navigation with information gathered from first tree test and open card sort

Study objectives

  1. Can users complete tasks without getting lost?

  2. Do typical users find the content organization to be intuitive?

  3. Does the navigation need to be reorganized?

Top Findings

  1. Certain departments are not called what users would expect them to be

  2. Time spent on tasks and backtracking shows that efficiency in the current navigation can be improved

  3. The new suggested navigation improves efficiency and confusion
